COPERNICUS

Conductor of the Copernicus hi end speaker cable is a round silver wire coated with a layer of 24-karat gold. The gold plating process is preceded by palladium plating. The wire is then vibrationally annealed and polished with walnut wood granules. Final composition, diameter, and preparation method of the conductor were developed in collaboration with our partner. We receive the wires on small spools, sufficient for building only one pair of Copernicus cables. This means that each pair of cables has a individually determined direction and is listened to and compared with a reference cable during production.

The insulation of the gold-plated silver conductor consists of air, several layers of woven cotton, and carbon. Thanks to the properties of gold, which does not corrode or react with oxygen or ozone, the wire is not coated before being introduced into the first layer of cotton insulation.

During the design process, we paid great attention to the insulation, the arrangement of its layers, their connection, and the appropriate ratio of carbon to cotton. The insulation also serves as an anti-vibration component, so its composition, distribution, and the way the cable is braided were crucial in achieving its sound quality. To ensure that the cables are flexible and easy to arrange, while preventing the insulation and conductors from moving, the layers are bonded with a “perpetually living” caoutchouc-based substance. The whole cable is covered with an aesthetic braid in dark gold colors intertwined with black and white.

We also devoted great attention to the cable splitters at the ends. Their weight and repeatability of execution were extremely important. Like the insulation, they are part of the Copernicus anti-vibration system. The splitters are laser-cut from high-quality cast, annealed acrylic. The shape of the splitters proved to be significant as well. Ultimately, they took the form of tiny violins – an instrument whose shape is governed by the “golden ratio”.

Finally, after such meticulous preparation, the cable needs to be properly terminated. Copernicus is terminated with the highest model of copper-gold-plated Furutech FT-211G spades or FT-212G banana plugs. The connection to the conductor is screw-type, without soldering.
